There was one reported injury. Dozens of families have been left homeless, and search efforts have been hampered with so many people away for the holidays.
“‘Many parts of Alabama have experienced excessive rainfall and flooding is a major concern, ‘ Governor Robert Bentley said”.

As of 6:45 pm, the severe weather threat looks to be subsiding, but Alabama will continue to watch for the chance of severe weather for the rest of the evening.
This comes after two possible tornados on Christmas Day outside Birmingham, Alabama. The funnel was spotted by witnesses outside the city about 5pm Friday. Sporadic damage was reported around the Mercedes Plant.
Holmes said reports of tornado activity in Bibb County, also southwest of Birmingham, have not been confirmed.
Ruthie Green, resident of a working class neighborhood in downtown Brimingham, said she ran to a closet when a tornado warning came up on her iPad.
But that didn’t stop some from spending their Christmas giving rather than receiving.
Among the dead was a 7-year-old boy in Holly Springs, Mississippi, according to Mayor Kelvin Buck.
