Alabama wraps up pre-Christmas practices in advance of playoff semifinal
Alabama running back Derrick Henry sat down in front of a group of reporters, and he was in no mood to look backward.

“He taught me a lot organizationally and (about) preparation for games”.
“Mark has exceeded expectations of all of us in terms of what he’s done at Michigan State and certainly done a better job than I ever did there, ” Saban said Sunday. Michigan State’s victory over previously unbeaten Iowa propelled the Spartans into the top four of the rankings and the College Football Playoff Semifinal. They’re just another team.
“Well, we do try to get some reps and quality reps and some quality work for some of the players who haven’t played as much, especially when we start out early on”, Saban said. And then, the Buckeyes whacked Alabama upside the head, 42-35. “The more we get into game mode of what we’re working on to get ready for the game, probably we do less of that. I’m a Spartan alum, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to come out and cheer them on”.
Saban proceeded to compliment MSU up and down. Under the direction of Mark Dantonio, the Spartans are confident that they can compete with anyone in the country and win it all. “Whether it came from that meeting, or wherever it came from, all I can say is that the players responded the right way to a loss and we started to make progress as a team”. “I think everybody respects the team we are playing”.
Then again, Saban, who is 64 years old, sounded convincing in his interview with ESPN.
The Tide’s lone loss, to MS on September 19, followed unimpressive finishes to back-to-back seasons.
Michigan State freshman LJ Scott, part of a backfield-by-committee, was fourth. “I wasn’t about to be a distraction”.
Co-offensive coordinator and play caller Dave Warner indicated the Spartans might not be able to be as patient with the run game as in previous games. “That means more to me than any award out there or any honor you could get”, Coker said. Saban was 34-24-1 with no Big Ten titles at Michigan State from 1995-99, although he had to deal with NCAA probation and scholarship reductions for violations that occurred during his predecessor’s tenure.
But that game was a lifetime ago, at least in college sports. The Spartans’ comeback in January’s Cotton Bowl was the school’s biggest in a postseason game.
“We want to prove everybody wrong”, Anderson said. “It’s really something that’s special”. “We could have easily not won a few games this year and not won the Big Ten Championship and people would have been saying Michigan State’s back to being Michigan State”. They’ll reassemble Saturday before heading to Dallas.
Dantonio knows the worst situation for an offense to be in is third-and-long, when a defense knows the pass is coming and can substitute personnel and get after the quarterback. Connor Cook was No. 3. We left so many plays out there on that field.

It takes on the feel of a spring practice learning environment that is beneficial to the younger, less experienced players and the coaching staff as it heads into the offseason. And that worked really well for us for a long time.
