The talented German would be a ground-breaking signing for any Premier League club, but that is not to say that he would be a certain fix for the Red Devils’ engine room.

The 36-year-old Argentine kept out a barrage of stinging shots from Anthony Martial, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Rooney, but was powerless to stop Delaney’s own goal and Darmian’s thunderbolt which went in off the post. “All of a sudden, everyone thinks they can do it. You get this groundswell of confidence at the next level down”.
United will play their next match on Saturday – an FA Cup semi-final against struggling Everton FC.
The Dutch utility player is not an exceptional player, and is not likely to impress people in the same way as the other names on the list.
“No player has a fixed position”. Winning this game left United in fifth place, a point behind Arsenal who have a game in hand, and two adrift of Manchester City. “I was very happy for him”.
“We have to beat Everton and in spite of the 4-0 loss (that Everton suffered against Liverpool on Wednesday), we have showed already this season that we have lost against Arsenal and the next match we won”.
Matteo Darmian has had a fair amount of flak since move to United since his early-season form tailed off in fairly dramatic fashion. “That is the most important thing”.
“You need always guts to put youngsters in the squad and also in the line-up, but of course the academy coaches deserve credit, and also the scouts, who discovered these boys”, said the Dutchman.
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has compared Marcus Rashford’s rise to prominence to those of Barcelona legends Xavi, Iniesta and Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.
“We have to work very hard to reach this level because we have a very full season”, he added.
He played 80 minutes in the centre of midfield before being take off as United coasted to three points. I use a player where I think they can give a contribution in that game.
Manager Alan Pardew conceded that many of his players had their attention turned towards the cup this weekend.
“The FA Cup, for Manchester United, is going to be a big, big event – but for us, it is a huge event”, Pardew said.

United was far more threatening than it has been in many games at Old Trafford this season, but eased through the closing stages, with one eye undoubtedly on Sunday’s (AEST) trip to Wembley to face Everton. I couldn’t fault my players’ effort but it was just that little bit of focus, where you hurt teams, wasn’t quite there.
