On the Independence Day, Banerjee said, she has asked all clubs, organisations, MPs, MLAs, municipalities, corporations, gram panchayats, blocks and zilla parishads to organise a cleanliness drive for an hour from 11 AM keeping their vicinity and roads clean from garbage.

Banerjee is also likely to seek funds as interim assistance under the National Calamity Relief Fund.

She said the suspicion was raised after the recovery of about 100 kilograms of explosives in the Raghunathganj area of Murshidabad district, which sparked a security alert ahead of the Independence Day. Task forces have been formed and the situation is being monitored 24 hours.
