Bill Cosby arrives at court to face a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault. He made no comment as he entered and later exited the building. Cosby has to visit the court once again on January 14.
The former “Cosby Show” star and breaker of racial barriers was charged with aggravated indecent assault, punishable by five to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Cosby was charged Wednesday with drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at his home 12 years ago – the first criminal charges brought against the comedian out of the torrent of allegations that destroyed his good-guy image as America’s Dad.
She was just 24 when she met Cosby as an aspiring actress. The Golden Globe victor was accused of drugging and violating former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his mansion in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania more than a decade ago.
Steele said new evidence supporting the charge involving the assault taking place at Cosby’s home in Montgomery County in 2004, came to light this summer. The over 40 accusers have included aspiring actresses and supermodels Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson. Cosby’s lawsuit says the only dinner he and Johnson ever had together was at a NY restaurant with his longtime wife present. But she said the arrest of Cosby – who maintains his innocence in spite of the charges – will hopefully give courage to those who are afraid.
Cosby has not previously been charged with a crime.
Cosby’s attorney did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s inquiries.
But Troiani offered her thanks for filing the charges to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in a prepared statement, and for “the consideration and courtesy they have shown Andrea during this hard time”. Cosby was escorted into court in that familiar fatherly sweater and a familiar accusation. In November, when Kevin Steele was elected district attorney, defeating Castor, he told supporters, “You made a choice to take it forward, to fight for victims”.
“She could not keep her eyes open, was not aware of any sounds, had no sense of time, and was ‘in and out, ‘” according to the affidavit. This comes after dozens of women accusing him of assault for years.
Cosby is said to have given drugs and wine to Ms Constand, who he had mentored via a university basketball program, and then assaulted her when she was incapable of resisting.
“I don’t hear her say anything”. And I don’t feel her say anything. “They deserve justice and peace.” and, “If I believed in hell Bill Cosby would be going there”.
“We think that it supports her case in Los Angeles”, he said. Only Cosby can truly know what they were, he added.
Cosby allegedly left the room and came back with three blue pills. “At that point, “reopening this case was not a question”. Constand, now 42, lives in Toronto and works as a massage therapist.
“She is receiving numerous communications from women with heart-wrenching accounts of their own experiences”, Dolores Troiani said.
The case against Cosby, who is most known for his iconic Dr Cliff Huxtable role in sitcom The Cosby Show, was filed just before the statute of limitations deadline for criminal prosecution expires in January.

“NBC Nightly News source” Kate Snow, who interviewed most of the women for a special earlier this yr, stated it has-been a “long journey” for Cosby’s accusers.
