Rumors finally became reality for the Houston Astros’ organization and the franchise’s fan base on Sunday. Carlos Correa still stands tall at Bregman’s natural position at shortstop.
This will be the second promotion for Bregman this season. Over the long haul, BA, Law and MLB.com (which has Bregman as the No. 18 overall prospect in the game) see him faring well at short.
A product of Louisiana State University, Bregman began his minor league career with the Quad Cities River Bandits on June 26th, 2015.
Since being promoted from Corpus Christi to the Fresno Grizzlies, his production has continued to soar. The 22-year-old ex-LSU standout has been especially impressive this season, having posted a.297/.415/.559 batting line with 14 home runs in 285 plate appearances in Double-A. 333 with six home runs, 15 runs batted in and 17 runs scored.

Houston Chronicle Astros beat writer Jake Kaplan tweeted that Bregman will either play third base, left field, or be the designated hitter, depending on the status of Marwin Gonzalez’s left ankle injury.
