Alex Iwobi out for a month with a hip injury

Nigeria and Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi will be out of service for a month, according to various reports in the British press.

That would rule him out of Arsenal’s next two games, against Leicester on Saturday and Watford the following weekend before a possible return on September 10 against Southampton.

Wenger could also be without Aaron Ramsey for the same period, with the Wales midfielder suffering a hamstring injury against Liverpool.

Iwobi was handed another start by Arsene Wenger during our hugely disappointing 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in our opening game of the new Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.

Ramsey joins an injury list that contains Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista and the loss at the Emirates highlighted Arsenal’s need for defensive reinforcements. Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck is also out for the rest of the year with a knee injury, taking the Gunners’ injury haul to five. The Frenchman later admitted that he took a risk by playing Ramsey.

There is some positive team news though, as Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are expected to return to the squad this weekend after missing the Liverpool game following their late arrival to pre-season. The 25-year-old was even named in the Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament.
