Iwobi was forced off in the second half of the 4-3 defeat to the Reds and has joined the Gunners’ lengthy injury list. Wenger is set to give an official update on the injuries during his news conference on Thursday.

Ramsey started the game for the Gunners but had to be taken off at the hour mark due to the problem in his hamstring.

It means Iwobi will now miss Saturday’s trip to the King Power to face champions Leicester City and the trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford the following week before the upcoming worldwide break.

Perhaps he was anxious about how the new Gunner would cope with a Jurgen Klopp heavy pressing side on his EPL debut.

Both Per Mertesaker and Gabriel Paulista are defenders still on the treatment table, the former until new year, the latter for months. Striker Danny Welbeck is also out for 9 months due to knee surgery.

Despite statement’s to the opposite pre-game, Wenger admitted his side were “not ready physically” in the aftermath of the Liverpool defeat. “It’s a very hard situation to sort out because the players come back late because of the Euros and, on top of that, you play them and they get injured”.

Arsenal’s injury crisis is likely to be eased by the return of their big name trio Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud. All three were rested for Sunday’s Premier League opener following extended breaks after Euro 2016.
