Alex Morgan traded to new Orlando Pride NWSL team
Rawlins said he expects about 10,000 people per game during the women’s home contests next season, which would rank the Pride No. 2 in the league, behind only the Portland Thorns, which drew an average of 15, 639 this year. “I’m really happy to have a new team joining (the NWSL)”.

“I think that Orlando has established itself as a soccer town, I think the support that the men’s team has had and Florida has always had good roots in soccer”, US women’s national coach Jill Ellis said. Again, this compares to Kaká with the fact that he was very injury prone coming to Orlando a year ago and he was out of form, having only scored two goals with Sao Paulo while on loan and having not made a national team appearance in 2014.
The 26-year-old Morgan is one of the most popular female players in the world.
Sports Illustrated first reported the potential deal that would send Morgan and Canadian Kaylyn Kyle to Orlando for the Pride’s first pick of the NWSL draft, two global slots and USA national team defender Meghan Klingenberg, now with the Houston Dash.
“It took nearly four months to make, but we wanted to highlight that 10-day countdown to the first game, when everyone was so pushed to make everything happen”, said Lopes. The film gives an inside look at how the Lions progressed into Major League Soccer, and includes behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with key front office members, coaches and players, like founding owner Phil Rawlins and his wife Kay, majority owner Flavio Augusto da Silva, head coach Adrian Heath and Brazilian star Kaká. “Everybody keeps talking about Orlando City and how it has the best fans in the MLS and I want to see a big crowd”.
Again, all of this still is not 100% official yet.
Morgan’s husband, Servando Carrasco, plays for Orlando City in MLS. Orlando will receive the first pick in each round of the 2016 NWSL College Draft as well as the top spot in the Discovery and Waiver tiebreakers. Someone like USWNT midfielder Heather O’Reilly could be selected and step right in to help Orlando right away.

So what does this trade mean for Orlando? Portland is asking for Orlando to trade everything, and Orlando Pride is giving in. All we have right now are rumors.
