Fleetwood Town have moved quickly to replace Graham Alexander who was sacked yesterday, by promoting his assistant Chris Lucketti into the manager’s role.
To think it all started so promisingly for Fleetwood with Bobby Grant (12) curling in a freekick early on to put the Cod Army ahead!
Rory Donnelly scored the pick of the goals, with his second, lifting the ball over the keeper after bursting through the defence on the halfway line.
Scot Alexander, 43, guided the Highbury-based club to promotion to League One for the first time in their history, but departs with Town languishing down in 20th spot after just two victories this term. This win also kept the Gills’ unbeaten home record going and consolidated third place.
“We were pushing men forward and here at Gillingham we want to win all of our matches and hopefully do it in style”.
Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this mauling?
Fleetwood will have no shortage of applicants for the newly opened post, which is already attracting quite a bit of interest.
