Alfa Romeo Giulia – pricing begins from £29180

Following the standard Giulia there’s the Super, Tecnica and Speciale trim levels plus the range-topping Quadrifoglio mentioned earlier.
Fleetnews drove the Giulia last month – dubbed a “true Alfa Romeo”, it benefits from flawless 50/50 weight distribution and distinctive Italian styling.
The entry-level powertrain will be the 2-litre petrol unit of 197bhp, mated like all versions of the vehicle to an eight-speed ZF auto gearbox as standard.
The engine range comprises the 200bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 150bhp 2.2 JTDM-2, 180bhp 2.2 JTDM-2 diesels and a potent 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo developing 510bhp.
Alfa Romeo is proudly pointing out that in Euro NCAP crash tests the Giulia not only gained a top five-star rating but also the highest ever 98 per cent score for adult occupant protection.
Even the entry-level “Giulia” trim includes a ton of active safety systems like Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian recognition and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), all of which have contributed to the auto being awarded a five star Euro NCAP rating, with 98 per cent protection result for adult occupants.
Equipment for the standard Giulia includes 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a multimedia system with a 6.5-inch screen and DAB radio. The £30,880 Giulia Super brings 17-inch wheels, the 8.8-inch navigation screen (with a supplementary seven-inch TFT screen), plus leather and cloth seats. The two diesel units are the only engines available, at £30,995 for the 150PS version and £32,195 for the more powerful of the pair.
The next rung up is the Giulia Tecnica – only available with the diesels and adding – adds in a cooled glovebox, rear view camera, power seats and privacy glass.
The Speciale trim, priced from £34,150, only uses the 177bhp version of the diesel engine and adds 18-inch alloys, heated leather sports seats and steering wheel and sportier bumpers for the exterior.
