Aside from giving foreign firms access to the Chinese market, it would also enable Alibaba to expand its offering with other products that it does not have, at the same time hosting it on its cloud.

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba (NYSE: BABA)is partnering with global technology firms such as SAP to help them enter the Chinese market, a region that foreign companies often struggle to compete in.
BEIJING-(satPRNews.com)-Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, continues to blaze the trail for technology and innovation with the release of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions and a new logo at its cloud computing conference, Beijing Summit today.
“The AliLaunch programme and Global Technology Partners Marketplace serve as the flawless platforms for making different software products accessible to businesses and organizations in China”.
As the first step in creating the Cloud computing TMall for the China market, the AliLaunch program will serve as an online store where enterprises in China will have access to different technology partners and can deploy software or services through Alibaba Cloud. Germany’s SAP is the biggest customer so far, and it will sell its Hana data-software and services on Alibaba’s cloud.
Alibaba wants to diversify its sources of revenues by expanding beyond its core e-commerce products. Sicheng Yu said this does not threaten to cannibalize Alibaba Cloud’s own business. He also announced the opening of cloud data centres in Europe and West Asia.
Alibaba cloud sells a wide range of cloud computing solutions that the company has developed internally. The smartphone company would help the Alibaba in building required data-processing and networking infrastructure to support virtual reality applications.
Alibaba’s fastest-growing business is its cloud division, though it contributed just 4.7% of revenue in the March quarter. “The partnership between Alibaba Cloud and HTC will bring two of the world’s most disruptive technologies together to bring more value to businesses looking to leverage VR and cloud”, Jin said.

Together with AliLaunch, the program can help companies overcome common obstacles they face in China “including scalability and technology compatibility”, according to Alibaba Cloud. Cloud computing can improve efficiency and lower operational costs, the company said.
