Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O’Neill last night. The trash container was blown clear into the street by the force of the blast. “At this time there is no evidence of global terrorism connection with this incident”, Cuomo said near the scene of the explosion on W. 23rd St. near Seventh Ave. around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Investigators will be canvasing for additional video Sunday. Some onlookers said residents who live on the block still hadn’t been allowed to return to their homes.
“When you see the damage, I think we were fortunate that there were no fatalities”, Cuomo said. A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that an explosion in the Chelsea neighborhood appear.
Investigators are still waiting for the results of forensics tests to reveal more details about the NY explosion, the senior law enforcement official said. They want to instil terror.
The area targeted for this blast was a neighborhood of wealthy people, per Quest, and it is also home to the most famous “fashion college” as well as being known for “its inclusion of the gay community”. Investigators found a suspicious second device a few hours later, officials said.
With all the information, it does seem likely that the blast was the result of an intentional explosive device being set off by someone in Manhattan, and thus the description of the news given by NY businessman Donald Trump to media as “a bomb went off” was not wrong, despite the pushback from rival Hillary Clinton as reported in a post over at Fox News.
“It tells me that it was a rather large explosive device that someone built and someone detonated and caused the injury of dozens of people”.
Speaking at a campaign event in Colorado Springs on Saturday night, he said, “I must tell you that just before I got off the plane a bomb went off in NY and nobody knows what’s going on”.
Investigators were also probing whether the Manhattan blast was in any way related to a pipe bomb explosion in Seaside Park, New Jersey, before a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors earlier Saturday. On Sunday morning, he tweeted a message of support to those who were injured in the explosion.
Police are searching for details on what caused the explosion that sent diners and others pouring in to the streets, CNN reported.
The second device was taken to the department’s firing range where it will be inspected by robots. I saw pieces of metal – not large, but not small either.
A dented dumpster is seen after it was blasted across the street by the detonation in Chelsea.. Both said they were lucky to be alive.
Martinez said the couple were driving through Chelsea when their auto was lifted up by the force of the blast, damaging the left side of the vehicle.

“I was driving a auto and next thing you know I felt an explosion”, he said. He sustained injuries to his head and leg and said he felt “a little traumatized”.
