All eyes on Carson Wentz as Eagles open camp
But Eagles coach Doug Pederson does plan to get the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft as many reps during the preseason and training camp as possible. While Ried is no longer with the team, he was one of the most successful coaches of the Philadelphia Eagles so that’s not an entirely bad thing.

Now Coach Doug Pederson said Wentz will probably be inactive on game days this season. “We had a good time”. In California, the group of guys had three throwing sessions, but they also spent a lot time off of the field with each other, including a day of paddle boarding. It was a lot of fun. I guess him being from (North Dakota) he was used to cold water. I wasn’t a big fan of the Pacific Ocean.
“It was fun”, Wentz said. And crowded you could say is the quarterback competition for the Eagles with Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel, and Carson Wentz. “We can’t speculate that far out”.
It can’t be easy.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, right, looks back as quarterback Chase Daniel, left, gets a drink with quarterback Carson Wentz, center, looking on during practice at NFL football training camp, Monday, July 25, 2016, in Philadelphia.
“Right now, we’re just going to get Carson as many reps as we can”.
The Eagles open the preseason at home against Tampa Bay on August 11 and one month later kick off the regular season at Lincoln Financial Field against the Cleveland Browns. I’ll stick to that as we go. “Donovan came in as the No. 2, so [it’s] different scenario this year”.
Is it hard for Bradford to put aside questions about his status and just work on learning Pederson’s West Coast offense, work on getting ready for the season?
“Not really”, Bradford said. “So we’re just going to have to wait to see what happens down the road”.
It surely helps that this is the first year since 2013 that Bradford has entered camp off a full offseason of work that didn’t involve ACL rehab.

While taking control of player development is okay, Pederson needs to avoid micromanaging his staff. The early returns show that he should be able to do that as he has given Jim Schwartz the keys to the defense. I don’t try to be anything other than that. “But I think all the guys will tell you that I work hard and I do my job, and hopefully, the guys respond to that and follow that”. The plan for Wentz, as has been oft-discussed in the Delaware Valley, is to initially let him watch from the sidelines for a certain period of time. “Because it’s hard to communicate those things when you’re not huddling”.
Pederson said Bradford “left the spring playing extremely, extremely good football”, and “picked up today where he left off”.
“This is really where a team is built”. This came after the team gave Bradford and Daniel a combined $34 million guaranteed to be Nos.

“The biggest part of that is just getting together as a team and spending time together away from the facility”, Bradford said.
