All Party Delegation for dialogue with all stake holders in Kashmir

The review comes after separatists hardened their stance over their demand for right to self-determination and refused to hold talks with a group of opposition MPs who were in Jammu and Kashmir as part of an all-party delegation from Delhi.

“Some members of the delegation went to meet Hurriyat leaders”.

After his meeting with Mirwaiz, Yechury said, “We are urging both sides to first restore normalcy and ensure that sufferings of people during last two months ends”. Whatever happened you know about it. “They had gone there in their individual capacity”, he told reporters here before flying to Jammu.

Raza said the 60-odd Sufis from various khanqahs across India plan to take out a peace march in Kashmir with the Quran in one hand and the “Tiranga” (national tricolour) in the other. “But what they did proves they have no faith in democracy”.

The All Party delegation will visit Jammu tomorrow after meeting different civil society delegations in Srinagar in the morning.

At least 74 people have been killed and almost 12,000 injured in the weeks of the unrest, the deadliest since 2010 when some 120 people died in firing by police and paramilitary troopers. “As far as talks are concerned, our doors are open to everyone who wants peace and normalcy”.

Singh said Jammu and Kashmir “was, is and will always be integral part of India”.

This was evident when the Indo-Pak talks scheduled in August 2015 were called off over Pakistan’s insistence to talk with the Hurriyat leadership. The delegation also appealed for peace and dialogue.

“I know people of Kashmir also want this”.

Owaisi said in the APD meeting that a non-BJP and non-Congress fact-finding team of political parties should visit Jammu and Kashmir to meet a cross section of people to ascertain the loss of lives due to violence.

While the resolution requested the central and state governments to take steps for dialogue with all stake holders, Left Parties batted for resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue and announcement of confidence building measures like withdrawal of AFSPA from civilian areas. “The process of dialogue needs to continue”. “Kashmir hamara hai, hamara rahega (Kashmir is ours, and would remain ours)”, he said. Rajnath Singh, before returning back from Kashmir, had expressed displeasure at the frosty reception by the separatist leaders. Anger continues to rage against the government for its refusal to explicitly ban the use of pellet guns that has injured thousands of protesters.

The new chili-filled shells are said to severely irritate and temporarily immobilize their targets.
