All-party delegation holds talks with civil society members on Day-2

Yechury, who faced a snub from Geelani on Sunday, said he had not given up on the mission to bring peace in Kashmir.

The Home minister Rajnath Singh said that what I learnt from some members of the all-party delegation, who went to meet the separatist leaders, was certainly neither “Kashmiriyat” nor “insaniyat” (humane). Whatever happened you know about it. I don’t want to get into details. “We will meet in Delhi after our return and will chalk out our future course”, was all he said. It can not be called as Insaniyat (humanity).

Gupta said, “We asked the major Opposition parties in India as to why they did not condole and condemn the attacks on our security forces and the deaths of soldiers”.

Meanwhile All party delegation arrived in Jammu today to hold talks with cross- section of society to restore peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.

In addition to the political parties, delegations of academicians, teachers and student assciations, representatives of school management, prominent NGOs, representatives of Leh, Kargil, Pahari associations, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Fruit & Saffron Growers associtions, Civil Society etc. also met the All Party meeting visiting Srinagar.

Top separatist leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Geelani, on Saturday refused to attend talks with non-BJP MPs like Asaduddin Owaisi, CPI (M)’s Sitaram Yechuri, CPI’s D Raja and Janta Dal United’s Sharad Yadav.

Talking to The Citizen, senior Hurriyat leader, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, said only a “sustained dialogue” between India and Pakistan can be followed by any engagement of the Hurriyat with New Delhi or the Jammu and Kashmir government.
