All-Star notes: Bettman welcomes Scott; Stamkos’ and Bishop’s skills
The NHL’s latest attempt to revive the All-Star game takes place on Sunday in Nashville when it rolls its new 3-on-3 format that features teams from the four divisions taking part in a series of mini-games.

By now, you’re probably well versed on the John Scott saga. He played for the Arizona Coyotes when he was named an All-Star, but was later stunned by a trade to Montreal, which sent him for its AHL affiliate in Newfoundland. I, John Scott from Michigan Tech, at 33 years old…have All-Star gloves. This has been an accurate indicator of possession in the National Hockey League and it’s obvious it’s easy to score and win when you have the puck more than your opponent. “I genuinely believe that when I’m on the ice, or even just the bench, I make my teammates feel safe to do what they do best”, he added. “I didn’t really like that feeling”. The two had a talk Thursday night. Absolutely”, Trotz said. “But you have to think about the big picture. “I was playing third, fourth line in Pittsburgh Penguins because we had so many great players and the fans voted me in”.
“There was a time when I felt not really sure about how the league felt”.
“The last 2 1/2 weeks have been tough on me and my family”.
In response to critics who have said he doesn’t deserve to play alongside stars like Evgeni Malkin in the all-star game, Scott wrote, “I’ve skated every day since I was three years old to be one of them”.
The gall shown by the league representative iss reprehensible, Scott, for all his faults, at least wants to go to Nashville for the game.
Scott may not be as talented as Ovie(who is skipping the game to rest his ego and hopefully learn how to tie a Windsor knot) or Jonathan “I look like Tobey’s Maguire’s lame cousin” Toews, but he has bleed for this league and this job. Flyers forward Claude Giroux said he wanted a Scott-signed stick. “It’s been pretty insane, but I think everyone’s on board with this”. “Obviously it’s gotten a lot of publicity and a lot of people excited about watching the game”. “It could be a good thing”.
The “Scott” All-Star jerseys are among the hottest items in Nashville.
If Jaromir Jagr had his way he wouldn’t be in Nashville for NHL All-Star Weekend, nor would he be in a tropical location soaking up some sunshine during the five-day break.
“He didn’t do anything wrong”, Jagr said. “He’s a great guy”.
“I was sweating it out past year”, Weber said. That came one day after the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin pulled out of All-Star weekend with a lower-body injury that the team said had been bothering him since November. “There’s more ice with the three-on-three, and fans want to see players play a little harder, try a little harder”.
“In my opinion, and maybe it’s just me, it’s not about the Cup”, he said.
Dallas forward Jamie Benn said the solution is simple. Marc Giordano said “the fans voted him in for a reason”, while Roberto Luongo said “a lot of the (negative treatment) he has been receiving is undeserving”. “They will take it for what it is”, Scott said.
“I don’t want to embarrass anybody out there”, he joked.
In his essay, he wrote that someone with the National Hockey League asked him: Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?.
The winning conference gets to choose when it will play on Sunday. He said that a league representative called him and asked if he thought that his children would be proud.

The festivities then continued into the evening as the grand opening ceremony at Bridgestone Winter Park officially kicked off the weekend, complete with a live concert from country music stars Big & Rich. We want to see what’s going to happen too. He said, ‘We’re happy to have you here, we’re going to have a good time, make the best of it and just have fun in Nashville’.
