All the Fun of the Fair: Wal-Mart Debuts Deep Fried Twinkies

Hostess’ Deep Fried Twinkies are now available in both the original white creme style or chocolate creme. It’s a staple of the Texas State Fair, where it originated in 2002.

The Deep Fried Twinkies will be exclusively sold at Walmart for three months starting August 16, before being available at other stores, Walmart announced in a company blog post.

This isn’t the first time the company has tweaked its Twinkies.

Fried Twinkies have been a thing for a while, but now they’re a thing that’s going to be on store shelves near you on a regular basis.

The treat, which will come in chocolate and vanilla, was born out of a yearlong effort by Walmart and Hostess. Deep Fried Twinkies go on sale August 15.

He notes that consumers are more interested in healthy and natural options than ever before, and fast-food chains and makers of sugary treats like Twinkies, have tried to renew interest in their products with wacky combinations and over-the-top options, like Deep Fried Twinkies. Now, Hostess Brands is bringing that delicious taste directly to your freezer. “This is the last fight of the Stone Age, the survivors that are trying to hang on”.
