All USA United Continental flights grounded

Computer problems prompted United to ground flights at airports around the US Wednesday morning, throwing travelers’ plans into disarray.

The Associated Press first reported the issue was related to “network connectivity” issues, which United confirmed.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood worldwide Airport, a United flight to Newark was delayed about 96 minutes because of the situation, airport spokesman Greg Meyer said.

“I see the screen and it says all the flights have been grounded”.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm said that a router problem reduced “network connectivity” for several software applications. United also waived change fees for affected customers.

Some passengers complained on social media about conflicting information from the airline. The airliner had a temporary halt June 2 due to computer animation issues.

Around 7:15 a.m., the company told the Federal Aviation Administration it was not allowing planes to take off, citing “automation issues”.

Because United is so efficient when it comes to turning their planes around, any significant delay can cause major disruptions. “Contrary to popular belief, airlines are not required to compensate passengers whose flights are delayed or canceled”, the DOT says, adding, “In other words, airline delays and cancellations aren’t unusual, and defensive planning is a good idea when time is your most important consideration”. Overwhelmed counter agents tried to smooth over the problems for passengers loaded with luggage, strollers and sporting equipment. Troop 61 was heading back to Texas after a canoe trip in Canada and a series of cascading flight delays via Minneapolis and Denver. “But no, it didn’t discourage me”, said Kale. “Not much in the way of United talking to us”, said Aurora resident, Paul Stahlke. Still, the agency advised United fliers to “reconfirm your flight” with the carrier.
