“Man management”, he said, when asked to identify his strengths.

Holding his first news conference since being named as Roy Hodgson’s successor, Sam Allardyce said he “fits the chair” and can turn around the country’s fortunes after a torrid Euro 2016 exit.

“I think I’m the right age with the right experience and hopefully I can pass on a lot of knowledge and experience to the team and the staff that works behind the team to try and get a very happy camp that becomes a very successful one”, Allardyce said.

“We can just wish the best of luck to Sam Allardyce; for me he has been a very good manager for the club and thank him for everything he has done for us”.

“I think the bonding of the team is exceptionally important”.

“I think five Premier League clubs has given me a huge amount of experience”.

“I think we suffered more sackings than ever before”.

Allardyce also revealed he has not made a decision on who will captain England which leaves Manchester United skipper sweating on whether he will keep the job.

“I was extremely excited by the performances that came before they actually got to the tournament, I thought there was some outstanding ability in the team to beat teams”.

“So as the pinnacle of my career, which this job is, I want to enjoy this the most”.

Under Allardyce, Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing fourth from the bottom in the 20-team league. “We will adapt our style to play different opponents”.

“I took West Ham up, I saved Blackburn Rovers and now Sunderland but I consider myself much more than that personally”, he said. If you’re showing that passion and commitment but ultimately that quality, that team spirit they recognise they will get behind it and support you.

“They don’t hold the same category as winning the FA Cup, Capital One Cup or winning the league but it’s very important today in the Premier League to secure a football club’s financial status which is a hard thing”.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed the appointed of Sammy Lee as his assistant on the England coaching staff.

“No midseason break. I have been an advocate of that for 10 years or more”.

He added: “There’s no lack of passion I don’t see a lack of passion anywhere from the players who play for England”.
