Alleged Charleston shooter Dylann Roof assaulted in jail

The website Taking a Stand Against Discrimination (TASAD) launched an online donation campaign on Thursday for inmate Dwayne Stafford after he assaulted fellow prisoner Dylann Roof, the white gunman accused of killing nine Black parishioners at a Charleston, South Carolina, church in June 2015. News reported that Roof sustained bruises to his back and face, but ultimately did not suffer any serious in juries.

Inmate Dwayne Stafford assaulted Roof as he was preparing for a shower, The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Cannon said this has not happened before with Roof and described it as a “wake-up call” for officers falling into complacency when following routines day after day.

He said the appropriate policies and procedures were in place, and they have adequate staffing.

Dylann Roof, who murdered nine black parishioners during bible study in Charleston, South Carolina, was assaulted in prison by another inmate on his way to the jail shower.

Roof is a known and confessed racist and has even talked about his desire to start a race war.

Inmates in cells surrounding the open showers were supposed to be locked in, but Stafford, 25, of Goose Creek, somehow got out and charged down the stairs at Roof while he was unsupervised.

Umm, Roof is the guy who killed 9 people after a church meeting, his very continued existence amounts to “fade on sight”.

Attorneys for the man charged with killing nine people at a Charleston church are challenging federal prosecutors’ intention to seek the death penalty against him. Prosecutors in both courts are seeking the death penalty.

Stafford is African-American and is in jail on charges of providing false information to a police officer, strong-arm robbery and first-degree assault and battery. His state trial is set to begin next year. The federal trial is set to begin November 7.

The lawyers added that if federal prosecutors removed the death penalty, “Mr. Roof will withdraw this motion and plead guilty as charged to all counts in the indictment”. He pled not guilty a year ago on 33 counts, including federal hate crime and firearm charges.
