The 44 floats included an entry paying homage to the City of Hope medical center that was built by and featured athlete cancer survivors. The Los Angeles Lakers will have a float titled “Every Second is an Adventure”, and “The Bachelor” television series will have a float depicting a romantic date on an exotic beach.
There will also be a special appearance by Elsa and Anna from Disney’s hit “Frozen”, along with Mickey Mouse and friends and some of the “Star Wars” crew.
The floats featured in the Rose Parade will also be in the running for a number of awards.
Trump has not yet made a statement about the messages at the parade. A gentle Santa Ana wind carried the aroma of sizzling bacon-wrapped hot dogs down the boulevard.
Hundreds began lining the parade route Thursday equipped with portable heaters, blankets and sleeping bags to stay warm as temperatures were expected to dip to the mid-30s.
The Rose Parade is held annually in advance of the Rose Bowl Game, which will feature Iowa and Stanford. One of the nicer, and larger, floats to go through the parade this year. A replay of last year’s coverage is available now – here.
Authorities said the event would be held under unprecedented security, although there were no known threats.

The Chinese dragon float named “Marco Polo: East meets West” in this year’s parade, an annual event, was sponsored by a local Chinese company Singpoli Group.
