Flushing Out Gunman With Tear GasAlameda County Sheriff’s deputies and Fremont police on Thursday were trying to flush out a gunman – whom they described as a homicide suspect – with tear gas who they suspect shot and injured two officers the day before. After an all-night barricade situation, the home caught fire.

“We believe the gas ignited a fire, which firefighters made numerous attempts to extinguish”, Lucero said. Police say they haven’t heard from the suspect since about 3:30 a.m. when his phone died.

Bosques said that about 10 minutes later officers came upon the suspect and shots were again fired.

Both officers underwent surgery Wednesday at trauma centers following the two related incidents, with one in critical condition and the other stable, the Fremont Police Department said on Twitter. Johal told NBC Bay Area a suspect tried to enter Pakwan restaurant on Fremont Boulevard, where he was eating with his kids.

Police initially said they had at least one main suspect and potentially more, as tactical teams fanned out and a manhunt began that stretched on into the night. About 7:30 a.m., they appeared to get the upper hand on the fire as smoke billowing from the structure turned from thick black to white after it had burned for about five hours.

The gunman was found dead after being holed up in this home.. That couple were not in the residence when the suspect forced his way in.

A murder-suicide brought a massive police response and widespread fear of an active shooter among tens of thousands of people on the University of California, Los Angeles campus.

Then in April 2011, while on parole for a weapons violation, he ditched his drugs and ran on foot when he was stopped by officers.

Police were unable to confirm whether suspect was injured in the encounter. “It’s been years since I’ve seen him”.

Viorato, who recently underwent a liver transplant, moved into the neighborhood five months ago and said Villabrille helped him carry boxes into his home.
