Bystander said a large alligator immediately attacked the man after he jumped in.
Two hours after the incident, the Texas game warden, sheriff’s deputies in tow, found his body not far from where he was attacked.
Texas Park and Wildlife officials say that nighttime is the most unsafe time to be in the water, since that’s when alligators are on the hunt for food.
In an exclusive live interview with the KFDM morning shows, Judge Price told us according to information he received, a man and woman were standing on a landing at the dock.
An onlooker at Burkart’s Marina warned the man not to jump in the water, and a nearby sign reads: “No Swimming: Alligators”. Wright said she used a flashlight in the darkness to scan the water.

“Next thing I know this girl is screaming and an alligator’s got him”, Wright said. Kaleb’s father, 42-year-old James Hurley, ran into the water to help his son, but though the alligator bit him on the leg, he kicked it until it let him go. That’s when she felt something brush against her. Price thinks it was likely the alligator’s tail. The area is marked by signs reading ‘No Swimming: Alligators.’.
