Almost 2 years after Jets fire Rex Ryan, Bills do the same

Another Rex Ryan regime at an AFC East team has ended with his dismissal.

With speculation raised over the past month over his job security, Ryan also dismissed a question over whether two seasons were enough to be judged upon by the Pegulas. He posted the franchise’s top record since 2004 in his final season as head coach with a 9-7 mark. Ryan will receive about $5.5 million over the next three years for doing, well, nothing. The loss extended the NFL’s longest active playoff drought to 17 seasons. The Bills owe him a look, since he stepped in two games into the season and handled the circumstances well.

While Lynn could be the true successor to Ryan in Buffalo, it’s probably worth shopping his services to get into the best situation possible.

After six seasons as head coach of the aforementioned Jets, Ryan was hired by the Bills a year ago. Also, it gives Lynn – who is a candidate to get the job permanently – to get one game under his belt as head coach.

That isn’t the exact transcript of the conversation that took place Tuesday between Lynn and his Buffalo Bills bosses. But Ryan is a respected defensive mind and players truly do like playing for him. It further appears that the next coach of the Bills will have to be all right with a lot of uncertainty at the quarterback position.

But hilariously, Ryan failed to request the timeout on time. After starting the year as the running backs coach, he was promoted to offensive coordinator when Greg Roman was sacked immediately after the team’s Week 2 loss to NY.

Bills owner Terry Pegula released a statement on Rex’s release.

Kyle Shanahan, Falcons offensive coordinator.

Josh McDaniels, Patriots offensive coordinator. The Rams have the lure of the L.A. market and the top overall selection in this year’s National Football League draft, Jared Goff, at quarterback. The Jets won that first matchup 37-31 after losing both of last season’s games to the Bills.

His outsized personality was made for the back page, and he never disappointed whenever it came to promoting his team or himself. Again, there appeared to be disagreements between Ryan and the front office about the players who best fit his scheme.
