Almost 72 Passengers Arrive in India by Road From Pakistan

The Indian High Commission in Islamabad has provided assistance to 83 Indians stranded in Pakistan to cross over to the Attari land border with the help of the Pakistan government.

Cancellation of Samjhauta Express has left several Pakistani passengers stranded in India.

The High Commission has also raised the issue with the Indian External Affairs Ministry and asked for alternative arrangements for the stranded Pakistani passengers.

All these passengers were earlier scheduled to cross over to India from Pakistan through the rail route, they said. Indian passengers, who had been stranded at the Lahore railway station crossed over to India at the Wagah-Attari crossing on Monday. Many farmers have resorted blocking the rail route between Delhi and Amritsar. “We are eagerly awaiting the outcome of talks so we can call our own meeting to decide further plans”, he said. “Due to cancellation of Samjhata Express, all bogeys are stranded at Attari and there was no trade on last Thursday and Monday”, he said.
