Almost 90000 Turn Up for Rams’ Return to Coliseum

This wasn’t exactly the kind of return the Los Angeles Rams hoped for. Prescott only threw 23 interceptions in college against 70 touchdown passes in 4 years. There where reports earlier in the week that team mates are impressed with the growth of the former Oregon State signal caller. The Rams host the Chiefs next Saturday.

After showing some interest in former Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles passer Nick Foles, Dallas made a decision to stay the course with their stable of young players behind Romo.

But the Cowboys stunned the Coliseum fans right off the bat when Lucky Whitehead returned the opening kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 Dallas lead after just 13 seconds. Then he found Bryant later in the drive, as Dez climbed the ladder to snatch his first touchdown grab of the preseason, from 10 yards out.

The game-winning drive, capped by a touchdown pass from Sean Mannion to Aaron Green, gave the Rams a 28-24 victory and the crowd an even bigger charge. The tight end from Western Michigan was equally effective whether working split out wide, where he broke a tackle on a 14-yard reception from Goff, or on the line of scrimmage.

But it was Prescott’s poise, composure and demeanor in working with the first-team offense in the spotlight environment of the Rams’ first game in Los Angeles in 21 years that stand out the most.

Dak Prescott had one good game. The rookie quarterback for the Cowboys went 10 of 12 for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason loss to the Rams.

Jared Goff’s National Football League debut was cut a bit short Saturday night when head coach Jeff Fisher sat him after only two series.

Fisher had said beforehand that Goff probably play about a half.

The potential he showed in the first half of this exhibition has to make Dallas and its fans feel worlds better about the team’s backup quarterback situation, at least for the moment.

Well, after witnessing Dak Prescott start the game at quarterback, the Cowboys might not want to sign a veteran backup anytime soon. Linebacker Derek Akunne hit Goff as he threw, leading to a Mark Nzeocha interception.

“I had to remind them it was a preseason game”, he said.

We’ve got some really good practices in – offseason, training camp – and feel like he’s progressing very, very well and we’re going to strive for making that our goal every day.

If Mannion can become a reliable No. 2 quarterback behind Keenum, that would free up Goff to learn from the bench this season without the pressure of being one play away from entering the game.

Mannion, who played one game for the Rams last season when they were based in St. Louis after being selected in the third round of the 2015 draft, guided the team to a touchdown on his first series, a six-play, 75-yard drive to start the third quarter which culminated with a 14-yard scoring pass to running back Chase Reynolds.
