Almost everyone seems appalled by Matt Lauer’s presidential forum performance

During a question Clinton fielded from a vet about her plan to defeat ISIS, Lauer jumped in before she could answer and said: “As briefly as you can”. The reception illustrated the pressure that will be on moderators for the three face-to-face debates between Clinton and Trump later this fall.

Each candidate was given 30 minutes. This is supposed to be foreign policy. There were veterans in the audience asking questions, but it was all about her emails for nearly half of her allotted time. Yeah, ass. They don’t have much time because you spent it talking about emails.

Hillary Clinton raised $143 million over the same period of time. He said Clinton exposed “classified information to actors on her unsecured, I would say home brew, email server” and that it has “weakened the decision making” in Iraq, Syria and Libya and “turned those countries into a breeding ground for radical Islamic terror”. Olsen noted a number of public sources, including in August when one ISIS spokesman wrote, “I ask Allah to deliver America to Trump”.

Overall, 53% of likely voters say they think the Democratic nominee will do a better job in the debates, while 43% expect her GOP rival to walk away the victor.

Democrats have been fighting Republican-created laws in some states that restrict early voting or require government identification, winning a recent battle in North Carolina.

Trump stood by a previous comment that appeared to blame military sexual assaults on men and women serving together, but added he would not seek to remove women from the military. Clinton’s campaign launched a TV ad stocked with white-hooded KKK members lauding Trump and she gave a speech asserting Trump has rallied racists to his side.

Trump faced questions about his fitness for office.

The campaign said that Mr. Trump has now contributed a total of nearly $60 million to his campaign. There was no substance. “I don’t know anyone who hasn’t”, said Clinton.

She responded: “I will talk quickly, but I want people to understand this”. I opposed going in.

The bulk of the attacks, however, centred on Lauer’s failure to challenge Trump on the Republican’s assertion that he opposed the war in Iraq from its beginning, despite evidence of him supporting the war in a 2002 interview.

The response illustrated the pressure moderators will face during the three upcoming presidential debates, starting with Lauer’s NBC colleague Lester Holt on September 26.
