Alphaet Inc. (GOOGL) Releases Its Chat App Allo But Privacy Threat Looms

Released on Wednesday, the Allo platform is not exclusive to Android devices; it cuts across both Android and iOS operating systems. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help. Google had announced Duo and Allo at its I/O developer conference in May this year. Google has customized Allo for Indian users by enabling smart replies in ‘Hinglish.’ It is also rolling out over 200 stickers relevant to Indian users that have been created by popular independent artists. But too often we have to hit pause on our conversation – whether it’s to check the status of a flight or look up that new restaurant.

Google has launched a messaging app which may ultimately give Facebook and its subsidiary, WhatsApp, a run for their money.

The app has a feature called “Smart Replies” through which the app will suggest you words or phrases that you can reply in a conversation.

To make the user experience even more special, Google has loaded custom sticker packs, emojis and photos to the app, so users can choose from the generous selections and even modify them to a certain extent before sending to the receiver.

You can also directly chat with the Google Assistant, or you can include it in conversations with your friends by starting your message with @Google.

Rumors from the beginning of the week pegged September 21 as the day that Google’s Allo messenger would finally arrive and those rumors appear to be correct.

Keeping these concerns, Edward Snowden has warned people not to use Google’s new chatting app, Allo. The only remedy users have here is to simply use Incognito Mode all the time which remains end-to-end encrypted and unchanged from how it was first presented at Google I/O 2016. However, “the app will be live worldwide in the next few days”, the company says.
