“The news is out that I have disciplined Morgan for a breach of rules” said Bilic at the time.

And West Ham said in a statement on Tuesday that the player had left the club “by mutual consent”. However, he had been isolated from the squad in recent weeks after an alleged breach of discipline.

Hammers boss Bilic thinks the Premier League will miss the Dutch master, or “Little General” as he is known, and tried to persuade him to stay on at the Stadium of Light. “These things are not new in any football club”.

Amalfitano signed for the Upton Park outfit following a successful loan speall at West Bromwich Albion.

Amalfitano was ordered to stay away from West Ham training in August after he clashed with Bilic following his failure to attend a team meeting and has not featured outside of the ill-fated Europa League qualifying campaign this term.
