Ms Vanstone has been the target of backlash from social media and the nation after her insensitive comments. His statement was interjected by the former Liberal immigration minister who started lashing out the 17-year-old. She was only 8 years old when her dad tragically died after being stung by a stingray in 2006. My father died when I was young; it happens to lots of kids.
She wowed the world when she took to the stage at her father’s televised memorial service to pay tribute to him.
Vanstone’s comments left the panel and Stefanovic stunned and even drew gasps from the studio audience.
As for Bindi Irwin’s mother, Terri, she has said that she has no plans to get involved with anyone romantically in the future herself.
Stefanovic responded, “Come on Amanda!”
“In general terms, her value has probably multiplied four or five times”, he said.
“I don’t make an issue of these things, I think people who do are appalling”, Ms Vanstone said.
The 17-year-old TV presenter and her professional partner Derek Hough snapped up the coveted Mirrorball Trophy after they were dished out a flawless 30 by the judges for their captivating routine dedicated to her late father Steve.
“There are lots of Aussie kids, little kids, whose parents have recently died. (Irwin’s) died eight or nine years ago or something”, She added.

The death of her father featured heavily in the show when a childhood photo of her was beamed over in the show and she acknowledged the influence of her father in her dancing performances. She had hardly opened her heart out in public before the show, where she spoke about it for the first time. “I’d never really talked about everything I’d felt when Dad passed away and I never thought I’d revisit that”.
