If they say someone like Sam Smith made the best record of the year (he won earlier this year for his song “Stay With Me”), viewers most likely assume a lot of music industry knowledge is going into that decision. Grande also gave a shout-out to her “nonna” – who was in the audience.
Song of the Year victor Taylor Swift is the most nominated artist at the 2015 American Music Awards. She collected the award from singer Paula Abdul, who won the same award in 1990.
