“We are excited to create more than 1,000 full-time jobs and to become a member of the business community”, Chauhan added.
The company is expected to open its newest center in Romeoville this fall, hiring about 600 people.
“There are a lot of contributing factors that go into our thought process as we decide where to place a new fulfillment center”.
Vice president of Amazon’s North America operations, Akash Chauhan, says that expanding the company’s footprint in IL brings hundreds of full-time jobs with competitive pay and benefits to the state.
Employees will sort, pack, and ship customer orders. “I look forward to their continued success in Jacksonville and across our state”.
Curry said Amazon.com strengthens Jacksonvilles position as a destination for worldwide business, and contributes to increased economic development growth and improved quality of life..
A new Amazon fulfillment center is coming to Romeoville.
Mallot also thinks all of the full-time jobs will be in place sooner than 2019, especially if Amazon gets the center operating before the 2017 holiday season.
Full-time employees will receive competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, 401 (k) and company stock awards starting on day one, as well as generous maternity and parental leave benefits. Since the program’s launch four years ago, more than 7,000 employees in 10 countries have pursued degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming and radiology, to name a few.

After years of keeping physical operations out of IL to avoid sales taxes, Amazon has been rapidly ramping up operations in Will County. “Most importantly, we want to make sure a fulfillment center is placed as close to the customer as possible to ensure we can offer a great Prime service and fast shipping speeds to customers”.
