Amazon brings same-day deliveries to Central Belt

“Prime members are telling us that they love the convenience of free same-day delivery so we are quickly introducing it to many new areas of the UK”. Amazon has also experimented with one and two-hour delivery options over the past year, though those aren’t expanding just yet, being limited to certain postcodes in London and Birmingham. Customers who meet this deadline will then have their items delivered to their home in the evening before 10pm.

Customers who pay an annual fee of £79 for Prime membership and place their orders before noon will get their goods delivered between 6pm and 10pm the same day, seven days a week.

Prime same day delivery will now be available in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Dudley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

However, you can also select a two-hour, same-day delivery slot free of charge.

This ultra-fast service, offered exclusively as a benefit to Prime members, provides one-hour delivery on tens of thousands of daily essentials through a mobile app like paper towels, milk, diapers, laptops, and Kindle devices, to name a few.

Items that are eligible for same-day delivery are identified on the Amazon.co.uk website with the “Prime Same Day” logo.

Amazon spokesperson, Christopher North, said that the company had had a lot of positive feedback from customers in the areas where Prime Same Day was trialled, which is why it was taking steps to make sure that more areas are covered by the service.
