Prime Day was Amazon’s biggest sales period since it launched in Australia in December 2017. As it relates to item sales, however, a 5 percent chunk is not insignificant considering the many different categories on Amazon.

Inc.’s fourth annual Prime Day event lured shoppers from around the world, highlighting the promotion’s evolution from a rummage sale of obscure products to 36 hours of discounts on major brands such as Samsonite luggage, Callaway golf clubs and General Mills cereals. Prime Day 2018 is widely expected to be the single busiest day for Amazon in their 23 year history. The e-tailer is giving discounts and deals on a range of products.

Avionos president, Scott Webb, said Amazon has continued to evolve its positioning, adapting to changing consumer expectations and retail industry trends.
