Amazon Opening Corporate Office in Detroit
E-commerce giant Amazon has opened a new Detroit office that is serving as a technology hub and plans to expand the hub effort in 2016. It already has 100 full-time employees at its office in Detroit, reports Crain’s Detroit Business. The announcement is expected at Cobo Center later Monday morning.

Amazon typically keeps fairly quiet on these kinds of announcements, so it’s not known yet how many people are expected to work at the expanded Amazon venture in Detroit, or what, exactly, those in the office will be working on.
The teams at the office are responsible for software development, engineering, and advertising sales.
“We are focused on hiring in the state and look forward to being a part of the community, professionally and personally”, said Peter Faricy, vice president for Amazon Marketplace in press note posted on the official website of the City of Detroit.
He also mentioned that the state is “a rapidly growing technology corridor”.
“We are excited to welcome Amazon to the city of Detroit”, he said.
It has yet to be announced how many jobs will be added.
The program offers a curriculum that is rich in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the arts to students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

“Having a global company establish a base in our city is another example of how more businesses are seeing Detroit as a good investment”, Duggan said in a news release.
