The company clearly wants to repeat the success of the first Prime Day, July 15 past year, which was biggest global sales day for Amazon up to that point.

Recently, Amazon announced Amazon Prime Day 2016 and all the best deals Amazon has to offer are coming on July 12. Those categories were TVs, video games, laptops, small appliances and tablets, according to InternetRetailer.com.
The free shipping offer is meant to combat the biggest advantage Amazon has today with its Prime membership program: free, two-day shipping on millions of items.
Amazon rolled out some “countdown” deals last week to get customers ready for the big sale.
In a press release, Walmart did not mention Amazon or Prime Day by name, but made it clear the timing of its latest online discount offer is not coincidental. Only 10 countries can dive into the dropped deals of Prime Day 2016, including U.S., Spain, Japan, France, Canada and the United Kingdom. Sales of Amazon in 2015 on this event surpassed the sales on Black Friday. However, now that it is in its second year, many people and Amazon competitors have begun to prepare for the event.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2016?
The first-ever Prime Day event was held past year in mid-July with tens of thousands of special one-day deals on offer.
Prime members can also cash in on a $10 discount when they make their first eligible Amazon order of more than $20 using Alexa on Amazon Echo, Echo Dot or Amazon Tap devices.
-Prime Day is a good chance to update old kitchenware, with plasticware sets (such as Rubbermaid), pressure cookers, and other items on deep discount.

To address the inventory shortage, Amazon said it’s worked with vendors to increase supply. In a short announcement on its e-commerce site, Toys “R” Us couldn’t resist poking a little fun at Amazon’s Prime Day promotion, which requires Prime membership.
