An executive with the Market Track firm told CNNMoney that while “Prime Day” had comparable deals to Black Friday, Amazon hadn’t included some of its best-selling items in the sale. In response, Amazon got defensive, uncharacteristically releasing an update during the sale to partially illustrate Prime Day’s impact, while characteristically shielding some figures to make it unclear of just how successful the event has been. Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) had promoted the 24-hour sale event as having “more deals than Black Friday” and teased major savings on electronics, home appliances and baby products.
Prime Day celebrates the 20th anniversary of Amazon. Some thought the discounts weren’t deep enough.
But Amazon Prime Day may be an even better angle for clearing out old stock.

Some of these deals have already ended, but that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to quietly slink out of history. They’re so-named because they are quick deals, over in hours and usually limited in quantity. But the one-day sale seems to have stirred the commenters. So Amazon may still have the edge in free shipping offered through Prime membership. In his blog post, Madeira also indirectly attacked Amazon’s $99 customer fee for Prime perks. Unfortunately though, one of the biggest attractions was the $115 40-inch 1080p TV for Amazon Prime Day but it looks like it is missing at the moment and isn’t available to buy.
