Amazon Prime goes monthly in new challenge to Netflix
In addition, users could pay a couple of months when they are supposed to buy a lot of things on line and save some money with the free shipping option.

Meanwhile, Amazon now also offers a monthly subscription plan for its Prime service.
Netflix said earlier this year that a “substantial number” of its longtime members who paid $7.99 monthly – and have been protected from price hikes – will pay an additional $2 starting in May. The video-only option won’t come with any free shipping perks. The new options do away with the need for an annual commitment to Prime, widening its appeal to people who are more comfortable joining it on a short-term basis.
Now, in a move that signals just how eager Amazon is to compete on more equal footing with its rival, the retailer is going to offer video as a standalone service.
If you do the math, though, neither plan is cheaper than the regular Prime membership.
As for customers in the United Kingdom, they’ve always had video streaming services through monthly subscriptions from Amazon UK, as pointed out by TechRadar.
Prime Video was first launched in 2011.
They drove 40% of Prime’s growth over the past three years, and now more than 70% of households in that demographic have a Prime subscription.
Amazon is making a big shift in marketing its products as it announced that users can now subscribe to Amazon Prime Video separately from the rest of other Amazon Prime products.
According to a report from the New York Times, Amazon notified visitors on Sunday to check out its Prime website that it now offers two new Prime price plans in conjunction with the $99 per year option. It comes at a time when Netflix customers might be checking their bills. Original series include “House of Cards”, “Orange is the New Black” and “Jessica Jones”.
Similar to Netflix, Amazon has invested money into producing original content, including award-winning shows like Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle.

Siglin also noted that Netflix is now also distributing its original content in some foreign countries as traditional one episode per week programs to take advantage of markets where its shows aren’t available for streaming.
