Amazon Prime Music Adds Universal Music Group To Free Streaming
Universal Music Group is the largest music conglomerate in the world, and beyond its massive catalog the studio also wields a significant amount of power with streaming services.

Like Amazon’s music streaming deals with other labels, Prime Music will feature very little current product, focusing instead on catalog. At the time, it only boasted about a million songs in its catalog – so it was never really supposed to be a Spotify killer or anything. Amazon seems to be on a never-ending quest to add to the already-expansive list of perks consumers get through Amazon Prime, and the free music streaming service is just one of the many bonuses the company offers its legion of Prime subscribers.
Thanks to Universal Music Group partnering up with the streaming service, artists such as Swfit, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, The Weeknd and Eminem are now on Prime Music. It’s unknown how the choice is being made about which albums will be available but it’s a good start for Amazon Prime Music catching up to rival services. “From chart topping artists like Lady Gaga to legendary musicians such as Tom Petty and Nirvana, we know our Prime members will love listening to all the additional music that’s now available as part of their membership”. Another snag to the deal is that there’s a six-month deal between an albums release and it’s availability on Amazon Prime Music.
