Amazon Prime has been expanded to Mexico, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg as well, noted the letter.

Prime – 13 years post-launch, we have exceeded 100 million paid Prime members globally. The Seattle based company is now routing for India as its most in-demand market in the retail space and the video space. As a quick example, Bezos writes that Amazon saw more new Prime subscribers in 2017 than in any other year in company history.

Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos received $1,681,840 in compensation in 2017, the proxy statement said, $1.6 million of which represents the cost of providing his security.

Amazon.com, Inc. shares rose $24.66 (+1.61%) in premarket trading Thursday. As usual, Amazon did not release any exact sales figures for the devices. He said the company shipped more than 5 billion items through the service a year ago, an average of nearly one item per member every week. “However, he didn’t say how many people signed up in past years”.

“It has become a golden ticket for Amazon”, he said.

Seven point nine billion pounds paid to Amazon by customers just for the privilege of free shipping (and a ton of other benefits)! Only Apple, at about $900bn, and Google’s corporate parent Alphabet, at about $745bn, are worth more. Reminding shareholders of the value of long-term thinking would fit into both categories, but we suspect the latter might be true.

That has raised worries the Trump administration might take action that could crimp Amazon’s growth.

“The Amazon.in mobile shopping app was also the most downloaded shopping app in India in 2017, according to App Annie”, he stated in the letter.

This number is actually not that far behind the number of Netflix subscribers.

For years, Amazon has refused to disclose the size of its Prime membership.
