Amazon’s Prime Day is finally here
The Prime Day deal makes it $249.99 instead of $379.99.

The event was panned by shoppers on social media previous year, too, for deals being unexciting or selling out too quickly. Amazon said in 2015 it signed up hundreds of thousands of new Prime members on Prime Day, which was its biggest shopping day ever.
New and existing members worldwide found deals across almost every department, like $50 off the Amazon Echo, a $649.99 curved 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV and $30 off a Kindle Paperwhite.
Last year sellers on Amazon only had two weeks to get ready for the event, but this year has allowed sellers a whole year to get ready to offer their deals. In a live blog post past year, we compared the top Prime Day electronic prices to those that were available during Black Friday in 2014.
But Amazon said it was a success, with 18 percent more orders placed that day than the prior year’s Black Friday, the shopping day after Thanksgiving that’s typically the busiest day in retail.
Shoppers who took to the site early had a chance to buy a Fire Tablet for $33.33, while Lenovo laptops were available for $199. Wal-Mart has cut prices throughout the month on a host of products online.
Customers in 10 countries will have a crack at more than 100,000 deals worldwide, according to Amazon. Investors and traders reacted to Amazon’s announcement that it actually sold more units on Prime Day than it did during Black Friday 2014.
But ShippingPass doesn’t include access to video and music streaming like Amazon Prime does.
Amazon said it has worked with its vendors to beef up inventory this year. Now, if you want any kind of gadget you can imagine, Amazon is the place you turn to get it.
In some ways, Prime Day has plenty in common with the kinds of annual sales that traditional retailers have held for years.

Analysts at Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimate that Amazon has 63 million Prime members in the US, with 19 million joining since the first Prime Day last July.
