Amazon to Debut Monthly Streaming Packages for Prime Members

The service, which unbundles the video streaming element of Amazon Prime, will cost $8.99 per month. The $99 a year option remains the cheapest way for most people to get both free two-day shipping and video streaming, equaling about $8.25 a month.

Today Amazon have introduced an alternative monthly plan for their Prime service and give a separate option for just Prime Video monthly.

Amazon is taking its streaming game to the next level by trying to attract a couple different groups of subscribers with new packages. We’re unsure right now whether this is just limited to the United States, or whether the $10.99 tier will be coming to other territories. Original series include “House of Cards”, “Orange is the New Black” and “Jessica Jones”.

For $10.99 you can now have access to all of Amazon Prime’s perks for a month at a time.

Even if the new offer from Amazon isn’t enough to put Netflix to bed, at least in the short term it does create a “negative headwind” for its established rival, Mahaney said.

Amazon’s offerings include “Transparent, ‘ “Mozart in the Jungle” and previously-aired HBO shows”.

Price: $9.99 for standard membership (non-HD streaming is $7.99/month).

Offerings: Movies and already-aired TV shows, including “Friends” and “Breaking Bad”.

Price: $7.99 a month for its basic subscription with commercials. The service also has the distinction of being the home of Showtime and Starzs streaming content, and users can add on either of those networks for an additional fee per month. Original series include ‘The Mindy Project, ‘ “Difficult People” and ‘Casual.’ Movies are included. Amazons annual fee instead of its monthly fee has been one of the things that has made the streaming service stand out from the pack (along with the fact that Prime also offers free streaming).
