Besides their supposed incompatability with Prime Video, the devices also compete with Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV stick.

Amazon told sellers it will not allow new listings and will remove existing inventory later this month, a report from Bloomberg said.

The spokesperson added the Roku’s streaming player, Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation, along with Amazon’s own Fire TV, “are excellent choices” – referencing that these devices won’t be affected by the change. “To avoid customer confusion” Amazon is going to implement listing restrictions for Apple TV, Chromecast and Nexus Player.

Prime Video has become a core component to the Amazon Prime membership program, which costs $99 a year.

For those that aren’t aware, the Chromecast was originally released in 2013 and Google recorded around 17million sales by May 2015, with the technology not only compatible on many Android devices but on a few iOS apps too.

Questions are already being raised about why Amazon has not gone to the trouble of producing dedicated Prime Video apps for Apple TV and Chromecast.

Online mega-retailer Amazon is using its market power to slow the sales of competing media streaming products from Google and Apple.

By taking its competitors’ products off its shelves, Amazon is cutting off a huge access point for consumers to buy Apple and Google’s gadgets – and their content. Amazon wants everyone to know that it has the customers’ best interests in mind.

When competition heats up, you can expect somebody to get burned.

Also, when asked if Google could reach a fair share of the other 95% and build a pretty mainstream product, he responded: “I think we will. That’s our objective”.
