AMD significantly cuts the R9 Nano price
AMD has now informed the press and hopefully its partners and retail/e-tail that the new suggested price for the Radeon R9 Nano is set at U.S. $499, which is a rather sweet price drops and actually makes the R9 Nano a very appealing graphics card. Does this price cut tempt you in to buying a Nano? The only competition it had up till now is the GeForce GTX 970 M-ITX and we have not seen any other competition with the same form factor taking up the fight against Nano. The time has finally come and Nano is now available, cheaper than ever.

AMD has this week announced that the price of its small yet innovative R9 Nano small-form factor graphics card has now been cut from $649 down to $499 offering those interested a considerable saving and maybe a great choice is you are waiting for an Oculus Rift headset to arrive. The R9 Fury is only a few percent faster than the R9 Nano and noticeably more power hungry as well, so if the R9 Fury remains at $499 then it’s hard to imagine the R9 Nano not being disruptive to R9 Fury sales.

The Radeon Nano’s dramatically reduced power envelope compared with its bigger brothers – load power is almost 100W below the Fury X at both 4K and 1080p – could also help the card slip into systems where a more powerful GPU would require a bulkier power supply.
Though not explicitly stated by AMD, this move may be an attack on Nvidia’s GTX 980, which is now being bundled with Rise of the Tomb Raider for around the same $500 price point.

The card launched in September, claiming the title of the world’s fastest and most power efficient Mini ITX gaming card.
