For everyone out there who still enjoys watching “American Dad”, know that TBS has no plans to get rid of the Seth MacFarlane series anytime soon. Each new season – 12 & 13 – will have 22-episodes.
The show follows the adventures of Central Intelligence Agency agent Stan Smith, voiced by MacFarlane, and his family and housemates living in the fictional Virginia suburb of Langley Falls. This marks the second time in less than year that the Turner network has renewed the series, which it shares with sister net Adult Swim.
“American Dad! has thrived since coming to TBS and Adult Swim, demonstrating the Turner portfolio’s ability to build enduring hits through a combination of smart programming, savvy promotion and extensive multiplatform distribution”, said Deborah Bradley, EVP of networks optimization and content commercialization for Turner Broadcasting. With all of that plus the weirdos who watch TV live, American Dad pulls in an average of 4 million viewers per episode. The rebrand is set to begin in the fourth quarter, pegged to the season 12 premiere of American Dad! and the launches of comedies Angie Tribeca and The Detour.
