‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Finale Spoilers: Gears Up For A Killer Ending?

Last week on AHS Season 5, we saw the aftermath of Iris (Kathy Bates) and Liz’s (Denis O’Hare) attack on Hotel Cortez. The only characters that have yet to meet their fate are Iris, Liz Taylor, Ramona (where did she go?), and, of course, John and his family. When they find her, she is covered in spots from eating the measles-infected vampire children. He successfully stabs her to death for Ramona’s mid-evening smoothie.

Like most viewers, I think I was skeptical about the whole shared universe aspect of American Horror Story. The presence of Charles Montgomery makes sense, considering his profession and his affinity for monster babies. Sally also congratulates John then proceeds to attack him with the intent of killing him so that he may return as a ghost; Mr. March, however, puts a stop to this. Queenie, as you might remember, is a human voodoo doll, and Iris and Liz only recognize her as a witch, and thus, someone with very powerful blood. As she stitches up the fallen queen, we finally get to see the fountain from whence her neediness flowed. Ramona then feeds on Queenie. It’s interesting to see a predator kept at bay by her own skill at killing, and it’s also a lot of fun to hear Evan Peters purr out, “But I’m a ghost”, in front of a dying witch. Meanwhile, the Countess escapes, only to be healed by (who else?) Hypodermic Sally (Sarah Paulson). Donovan begs Iris to make sure that he doesn’t die inside the hotel, as anyone that dies on the property is forced to spend eternity as a ghost haunting the hallways. But instead of a Caged Heat showdown between the two alpha bitches, we get a surprisingly poignant moment where both reveal their constant need to save and hold on to love when all it does is slip away. While she managed to distract Ramona by seducing her, The Countess was no match for John (Wes Bentley), who shot The Countess dead.

During an interview with E! at one of the ceremony’s numerous after parties late Sunday (Jan. 10), Murphy admits that he had too much alcohol because he wanted to party with newly-christened GG victor Lady Gaga – and that he was going to drink more. With only one episode to go, it feels like everything’s getting wrapped up in a shockingly neat package.
