‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Recap: Episode 3
However, this gap might have been filled with Lady Gaga’s character, The Countess, who not only possesses a truly “American Horror Story”-esque bloodsucking fetish, but also presides over a secret chamber filled with stolen children, seemingly frozen in time”. There are a lot of interesting stories going on here, perhaps too many, but the one that I don’t give two Toblerones from the hotel minibar about is the stupid killer. Also, the nature of recapping the show means there’ll be talk of blood and guts etc., so don’t expect any light reading.

Check out a few of the most disturbing moments in American Horror Story, via Vulture. As the lights flicker in the elevator, Sally does her best to seduce him. I think Alex is jumping the gun here, especially given his reaction. The juxtaposition of good and evil keeps us questioning the characters as well as our own morals. I can’t really speak on behalf of The Countess. She doggedly sticks to her story about floor-to-ceiling video games and glass coffins at the Hotel Cortez, and it looks like her mother is finally starting to believe her when she makes an offhand comment about how he smelled. It looks like we’re seeing an alliance here – and we love it!
John is thrown another curveball when Alex stops by to serve him with divorce papers. But she got a lot more than she bargained for when she bumped into that lavender-smelling munchkin Holden in the hallway; suddenly, Scarlett doesn’t seem so bonkers, eh? She said she sometimes felt guilty because she didn’t feel the same connection with her daughter Scarlett.
Next we see Claudia Bankson in her room.
We then see Claudia settling in at her hotel room. Gabriel’s hands then surface from the mattress and he attempts to choke Claudia.
Donovan is having a pity party back at the bar and Sally is killing his mother upstairs. Later we see John arrive at the hotel where Gabriel runs up to him begging for help and covered in blood. Gabriel falls into him upon entering the building. It nearly worked, actually, it would have worked, but Sally vanished.
The Countess, as she’s wont to do, slept with and turned Ramona without any apparent thought. Does she know Countess de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York City?
“You’re starving, too. I can taste it on you.” . Think Gemma from Sons of Anarchy, but worse. Sure it is slightly cliché, but drawing attention to it makes the whole thing feel like a cheap, easy and lazy way out. Who can blame the guy? Earlier, Tristan pretended to want to sleep with him to kill him. Tristan is none to happy to find Drake and the Countess together.
As Tristan seeks out the ghost of Mr. March, he’s interrupted by Drake. After she tells him that she doesn’t know who she is if she isn’t his mother, Donovan tells her she should kill herself – advice that, as we see later, she takes to heart.
“Don’t haunt my hallways, bitch”. Her montage is brutally effective, couched as it is with a great explanation of events from Alex’s point. He is hatred personified as he tells her how much he can’t stand her. He really dispises her. She tells him how hard it was for her to raise him alone.
“She cant be dead, she’s all I got”, he tells Sally, cutting himself and feeding Iris his blood. That and the sight of goofy, sad Iris in a heroin daze and a plastic bag over her head. While they’re kissing, Tristan pulls a knife out to kill Will, but the Countess appears out of nowhere to dramatically forbid him from going through with it. Tristan pouts, but Will escapes death. The Countess saves Drake just in the nick of time, because it’s not Duffy who’s meant to seduce him.
Another user enthused: “Bring on Angela Bassett”. Ramona tells him that she’s also a vampire, she and Countess used to be lovers until Countess dumped her. Ramona fell in love with a man and turned him. Now Ramona wants Donovan’s help to retaliate.
And we got to learn more about her backstory on AHS: Hotel.
The junkie-hating hotel manager Iris, played by Kathy Bates, returns and is able to achieve the menace exhibited by her previous character, Madam Delphine Lalaurie, from “American Horror Story: Coven”, despite a lackluster performance as the bearded lady Ethel.
But now, Ramona wants revenge. It sounds nitpicky I know but seriously, if you have ever had your Grandmother buy you a game for a system you don’t even have because she knows “You like playing the Nintendo” then you can understand my frustration.

It’s that time of year again – “American Horror Story” is back for the fifth installment of Ryan Murphy’s Golden Globe winning franchise.
