American Killed in London Attack
The London Ambulance Service said paramedics had given the woman who died “extensive treatment” but she could not be saved.

Police identified the attacker as a 19-year-old Norwegian with Somali origins.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“I heard it and my Israeli instincts started to kick in”, she told Army Radio, recalling how there were not many people around when she suddenly saw two men running toward them. He was treated at a hospital and then taken into custody at a police station in South London.
“Anyone who’s been following events in Europe over the past few weeks will understand why we want to show our determination to protect the public”, Hogan-Howe said at the time.
The attack came hours after London’s police chief said he would deploy 600 armed officers across the city following recent terror attacks across Europe.
Police had earlier said terrorism was “one line of inquiry that we should explore”, but later said that “whilst the investigation is not yet complete, all of the work we have done so far increasingly points to this tragic incident as having been triggered by mental health issues”.
In a statement, London’s Sadiq Khan, the first Muslim mayor of a major Western capital, said safety in London is his number one priority, and he expressed condolences for the victims of the attack.
Rowley said “we should be proud of them and the British tradition of using the minimum necessary force”.
Florida State University officials have confirmed that an American woman killed in a mass stabbing in London was the wife of a university eminent scholar. Four of the five were well enough to leave the hospital Thursday, officials said, but one of the men remains in stable condition there with lacerations to his stomach.
“I have spoken with the Commissioner, and the Assistant Commissioner, who have assured me that our police officers are working extremely hard to investigate exactly what has happened and to keep the rest of us safe”, he said, according to Sky News. Police said the attack was not linked to terrorism, and that mental health appears to have been a factor. In May 2013, two al-Qaeda-inspired London men killed off-duty soldier Lee Rigby in the street near his barracks. Even with the additional armed officers, most of London’s 31,000 police officers will not be armed.
So maybe this is a case of mental illness and not a terrorist attack.
Typically police in the U-K do not carry guns.
