The appearance by American Pharoah in the Haskell is the most eagerly anticipated stakes in the New Jersey racing history. I thought Wednesday be 50-1. It seems like a lot of people will be traveling here for the Haskell from a little farther away than normal. The restaurants and hotels will be packed.
American Pharoah is a seasoned traveler and, according to New Jersey program director E.J.
Triple Crown victor American Pharoah is the overwhelming 1-5 favorite for Sunday’s 48th running of the Grade I $1.75 million William Hill Haskell Invitational.
American Pharoah made his first appearance on the track at Monmouth Park on Thursday morning, taking a lap around the one-mile oval.
The colt will return to Del Mar either Monday or Tuesday. There are also several giveaways in the offering: baseball jerseys, hats, and buttons, commemorating the newest Triple Crown hero and his connections. Riders going to Monmouth Park should purchase round-trip tickets at their departure station, as there is no ticket booth at the Monmouth Park depot, the report said. We think our future is very rosy here.
“It’s an invitational, but they never notified the invitees”, Stewart told the paper. “So I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s fine that he won’t be here, because Haskell Day will belong to one horse”, said Kulina. It’s clearly why Upstart and Competitive Edge took the midnight run to Monmouth … for a second-place gold mine.
He landed at Atlantic City global Airport at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday aboard a plane provided by equine transportation provider H.E. “Tex” Sutton Forwarding Company, LLC. Photojournalists will be placed in a separate area, on the ground level, which will provide them with easy access to the racetrack.
It is most likely that Baffert will limit the remainder of his three-year-old campaign to a trio of starts with the Haskell and Breeeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Ky.as the bookends. “I went to the Belmont, and it was fantastic”.
Regardless of what happens, the Haskell will get some national media play because Pharoah is in it. But the truth is, the sport has to want him to continue to win.
Years from now, Drazin says, fans will remember the day they saw American Pharoah run at Monmouth, just as fans in the past remember watching Secretariat, Seattle Slew and other champions.
